About Our Team
Annmarie Early, Ph.D., LMFT
In the late 90’s, I was persuaded to attend an externship in Ottawa with Sue Johnson. As a dynamically trained therapist with extensive supervision and training in Intersubjectivity, I could not imagine a new approach that would captivate my attention. The training in EFT proved to be a life re-orientation that shifted my professional practice and my personal life; I was able to engage my lived experience and my clinical work with greater clarity, precision and with a renewed sense of hope.
Attachment theory provides the framework from which I now work, train and teach. The centrality of human connection informs my understanding of individual, dyadic, familial, communal and faith relationships. EFT is the vehicle that I use to provide directed intervention and create lasting change. As a certified Emotion Focused therapist and supervisor, I regularly offer training, enrichment and supervision from this perspective. I am an Associate Professor in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Eastern Mennonite University and am licensed as a Marriage and Family therapist in California and Virginia.

Jeff Hickey
I am a social worker in private practice in Chicago and Evanston, IL where I work with couples and individuals. After working for many years in a systemic-cognitive approach with couples (with inconsistent results) I learned of Sue Johnson's work and was immediately attracted to its active, empathic and research-validated model. I attended Sue Johnson's basic and advanced externships and subsequently received eft supervision from Brent Bradley and Alison Lee. I've has also trained with Les Greenberg in his model of individual EFT.

Nick Lee
I was first introduced to Emotionally Focused Therapy in graduate school, where I studied under Brent. I was drawn to EFT because of it's grounding in attachment processes, which was already an interest of mine prior to learning the model. I found EFT to be one of only a few theories of psychotherapy that had a clear map for understanding what tears couples apart and how to help them find one another again. Since graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University I have worked with couple's and families from within this model and have had tremendous success. I am currently employed at Anderson University, where I work with college age students in their counseling center. In addition to my responsibilities at AU I see individuals, couples, and families at a small private practice, Still Waters Professional Counseling LLC, where I regularly work from within the model.
Susan Simonds, Ph.D.
EFT first spoke to me about twelve years ago and I received training and supervision from a number of EFT trainers, including Drs. Sue Johnson, Brent Bradley, and Alison Lee. As a psychologist on the faculty of Washington State University, I recently developed an EFT rotation for predoctoral interns. I have over 25 years of experience as a clinician and I credit EFT with keeping my work exciting, rewarding, and joyful. Living in the rather isolated, rural college town of Moscow, ID, I appreciate the sense of connection I have with the international EFT community.

Paula Zerfoss, LCSW, LISW, MSW
I took the EFT Externship with Dr. Brent Bradley and Dr. Jim Furrow in April, 2005, and have taken two Advanced externshipss and a series of Core Skills workshops. I practice almost exclusively with couples in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am currently the only Registered EFT therapist practicing in New Mexico, and the only EFT therapist in Santa Fe. I love working within this framework, because it helps me to serve couples who might otherwise appear to be intractable. However, the further I have gone into the study of this theory, the more I have found that I have yet to learn!
