An Intimate Environment
Our externships are a bit different because we intentionally limit the number of attendees. We strive to create an intimate experience with personal videos of our in-session work, leader role-plays, and small group role-plays in which trained EFT therapists get involved with each group.

Our externships follow this format: "Hearing (didactic), Seeing (video/leader role plays), and Doing (small group exercises)". We emphasize small group exercises throughout the week. Each small group will have an experienced helper in their group facilitating the learning process at all times.

28 CEs available for Psychologists, LMFTs, LMHCs, LPCs, and LCSWs.

Officially offered in conjunction with Dr. Susan Johnson and the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute, Ottawa, Canada. This externship fulfills the full externship requirement for certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Presented by:
Dr. Brent Bradley & Dr. James Furrow

The 28-hour externship includes
:

  • Observations of live sessions (if at all possible)
  • Observations of EFT taped sessions from Brent, Jim, and Sue
  • Presentations of theory and clinical techniques
  • Skill training exercises
  • Supervision in specific cases

Externship Participant Comments:

  • Thank you so much! This week was amazing, I learned a lot, felt a lot and want to know a lot more. Thanks for your professionalism and for fostering an atmosphere that was safe, fun, and empowering. Can't wait for what's next!

  • What I really appreciated was that the instructors really believe in the model, and really want us to get it. They are very supportive! Thank you!

  • This was a great learning experience. Jim and Brent made a safe, comfortable space to explore and practice new counseling skills. I felt positively inspired to continue on the road to mastering this powerful new model of couples therapy. I believe I can start putting their techniques into practice right away, even though it certainly takes time to achieve true mastery of EFT.

  • The very best training I've had in any therapy. I love this model. I want to make the heart and soul of my practice. The live sessions with blow by blow explanation were so informative. They make the model come alive. Practicing in groups was super. I want more to really get it.
